Story Highlights
The SDG Open Day was the first-ever large-scale outdoor public event to promote local initiatives and best practices and to mobilize more collective actions towards SDGs in Mongolia. It was a true expression of partnerships and collective efforts for SDGs with a participation of around 150 busy organizations, representing government agencies, non-governmental organizations, international development partners, and private entities promoting and celebrating their efforts to achieve the SDGs.
The UN in Mongolia collaborated with the Mongolian Ministry for Digital Development and Communications (MDDC) to organize the first-ever Global Digital Dialogue (GDD) – a virtual event with over 400 participants from over 30 countries and five continents. Close to 800 people joined the event for more than one Deep Dive Session.
A joint programme implemented by four UN agencies resulted in improved livelihood and increased resilience capacity of herders through the extension of social protection with increased social insurance coverage and shock-responsive cash transfers. Local community capacity was improved to manage livestock and create more income opportunities.
